Ashley Lara was born in Bellingham, Washington. She later moved to Oregon and attended Triad School in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Her fire service career started in 2008 when she was recruited as a Public Affairs and Education & Outreach Officer at the US Forest Service. That same year, Ashley received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication and Business from Oregon Institute of Technology. In 2010, Ashley moved to Medford to pursue her Master’s in Management Degree at Southern Oregon University. There, she began working for the Oregon Department of Forestry in the Public Affairs program until 2014. Most recently, Ashley worked at Ashland Fire & Rescue as the Fire Adapted Communities Coordinator, implementing a range of fire educational programs.
Ashley enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, playing basketball and gardening.
