Fire Chief

Mike Hussey is the Fire Chief for a special district in Southern Oregon, serving a population of 54,000 residents dispersed over 167 square miles in the beautiful Rogue Valley. Chief Hussey was appointed Fire Chief in 2022 and started his career with Fire District 3 as a volunteer in 1991. He has ascended through the ranks, most currently serving as the Deputy Chief of Operations, a position he has held since 2014. In addition, Chief Hussey has spent seven years participating with the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Incident Management Teams, responding to several notable incidents throughout the state. Chief Hussey is a past President of the Rogue Valley Fire Chiefs Association and represents the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association on their Wildfire Policy Committee. Chief Hussey has a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Service Administration from Eastern Oregon University and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Science from Rogue Community College. In addition, he is a graduate of the Oregon Executive Development Institute and holds an Executive Certificate in Leadership Development from Oregon State University.
