Community Risk Reduction Resources

Instead of simply waiting for an emergency to occur, Fire District 3 dedicates a significant number of resources towards partnering with the community to prevent or minimize the risk of an emergency happening. We believe that by being proactive, our community is safer by reducing predictable risks before they happen. All of our community risk reduction programs are provided at no cost to fire district residents. Please explore the programs below to see if you may benefit from one of these resources.
Community Care Program
Comm Care Our Community Care program consists of Paramedics and EMT’s who help patrons navigate the complex healthcare system. They can help people meet their goal of aging in their own home, or navigate chronic healthcare issues. They also respond to non-critical medical calls and spend time helping people find the right medical resource for their specific needs.
Wildland Fuels Trailer

trailer

Many people living in Fire District 3 may not have the equipment to haul away hazardous green waste from their property that can fuel a wildland fire. We can provide a trailer that you fill up, and we will remove it at no cost.
Home Wildland Assessments
house Wildland fires are part of living in the Rogue Valley, and keeping your home safe from these fires can be a major challenge. Our fire prevention experts can walk around your home with you and provide valuable information on how you can better protect your home from wildfire. They can provide you with specific actions and resources that can make your home safer from the wildland fire risk.
Community Chipper Program

chipper

Through a generous grant from the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Fire District has a chipper available to remove larger amounts of hazardous bushes and branches that may fuel a wildland fire. Through an appointment, fire department personnel can bring the chipper to your property and chip the material.
Green Waste Drop-off Site

This location may be closer or more convenient for residents in that area. Biomass One and Rogue Disposal also offer drop-off locations for green waste for a small fee.
In-home Fall Assessments

In order to help people age in their homes, we have partnered with the non-profit Rebuilding Together Rogue Valley. Fire Department personnel can come to your home and provide a fall assessment and if needed, Rebuilding Together Rogue Valley has a contractor that installs grab bars where needed.
Smoke Alarms
smoke alarmWe have seen firsthand how smoke alarms save lives, and our goal is that every home in fire district 3 has working smoke alarms. For those residents that can not afford smoke alarms for their home, we will provide them free of charge. If needed, we can even install them for you!
Address Signs

Pulse Point
pulse pointDuring a heart attack, CPR and the quick use of an AED can mean the difference between life and death. “Hands-only” CPR (without mouth-to-mouth breathing) is now the standard for public CPR. PulsePoint is a smartphone app that can alert you if a cardiac arrest happens near you where you may be able to help. Thousands of your neighbors have already signed up to help us save lives in our community.
Community CPR
CPRIn an effort to help train our community in CPR, we offer “hands-only” CPR training to all 7th graders in our schools. We also can provide training to anyone who wants to partner with us to save lives in our community by learning “hands-only” CPR.
