The Operations Chief’s primary responsibility is the delivery of emergency services. These services include:
The District uses a combination of paid and volunteer firefighters to provided
these services. The District averages over 10 incidents a day, many requiring
response from two or more stations. This level or activity requires the District
to constantly monitor station staffing and to routinely move apparatus and personnel
from one area to another. 72% to 75% of calls are medical and/or rescue related.
Personnel assigned to the Operations Division also participate in training,
public education, and fire safety surveys and inspections. All these activities
are designed to improve firefighter proficiency and to limit risk throughout
the community.
