Bigham-Brown Road Fire Unintentional

At 7:51 p.m. Monday, a caller contacted 9-1-1 to report a fully involved structure at 501 Bigham-Brown Road in Eagle Point.

Both Jackson County Fire District 3 and Medford Fire-Rescue firefighters responded to the structure fire. Upon arrival a shop, two-car garage and power pole were engulfed in flames.

Crews quickly performed an aggressive extended line fire attack. At 8:11 p.m. the fire was knocked down and units returned. Approximately 25 fire personnel responded to the incident.  Three occupants were present when the fire started. A female occupant was the first to see flames and was able to call 9-1-1 immediately. All occupants evacuated the house safety and there were no firefighter injuries reported.

The building and contents were a complete loss. The building was valued at $40,000 and the contents were valued at over $100,000. Fortunately, the home on the property was over 100ft away from the fire and did not sustain any damages.

A fire investigator has determined the cause of the fire to be unintentional. Hot embers from a chop saw ignited flammable combustible materials that spread quickly to the nearby shop.
