Fire crews were on scene at Biomass One in White City trying to contain a sawdust fire that broke out around 7:00 Saturday evening.
A large pile of sawdust was engulfed in flames. Thanks to our viewer Mike for sending in some video.
Officials say these fires are common at facilities like biomass one, because the piles heat quickly and can spark easily.
“Usually those fires are quickly contained, but in this case the fire has gotten away from them so we’re assisting biomass, and getting control of the fire, and that will probably take a little bit,” said Fire Marshal Hugh Holden. Right now it’s unknown exactly what sparked the blaze.
